Lidl sets 2030 organic targets for produce and dairy

Lidl has announced new organic sustainability targets for 2030, aiming to accelerate the transition to organic agriculture. The retailer intends for 12 percent of its total sales volume of potatoes, vegetables, and fruit to be organically certified by 2030. Additionally, the company is targeting a 10 percent organic share for its private-label fresh liquid dairy products.

These new objectives are based on sales volume in kilograms. The retailer noted that it already achieved its previous 2026 goal of doubling organic produce sales by 2025. By setting long-term targets in major product categories, Lidl aims to provide farmers and growers with the investment certainty needed to switch to organic cultivation.

Lidl also emphasized making organic food more accessible and affordable. According to a price survey by the Consumentenbond, organic products at the discounter were found to be significantly cheaper than the market average. Sustainability specialist Imre ter Hedde stated that the goal is to make organic options a standard part of daily grocery shopping through measurable impact.
