Lidl to open first branches in Bosnia and Herzegovina next March

German retail giant Lidl is expected to open its first branches in Bosnia and Herzegovina in March of next year. As part of its entry into the market, the company has expressed interest in stocking local goods, requiring a specific percentage of products to be produced within the country.

Siniša Šolak, president of the ‘Glamočki krompir’ Association, confirmed that Lidl representatives have already contacted potato producers from Glamoč to discuss potential cooperation, production capacities, and readiness for the upcoming season.

Stojan Marinković, president of the Alliance of Agricultural Producers of Republika Srpska, noted that ensuring the presence of domestic products on supermarket shelves has long been a goal for local associations. He emphasized that such representation is often a condition for operating licenses for shopping centers and serves as a vital promotion for local agriculture.
