Lidl to open new grocery store in Knivsta by 2028

Lidl Sverige has received municipal approval to establish a new grocery store in Knivsta, ending a long-standing effort to enter the local market. The project follows years of delays and legal challenges, with one report noting that the company had been waiting for approval for over 14 years.

The new 2,500-square-meter facility will be located at Brunnbyrondellen near the E4 motorway, positioned for accessibility by car, bicycle, and public transport. The store will feature approximately 1,400 square meters of sales area and roughly 140 parking spaces.

Construction is scheduled to begin with groundworks in 2027, with a planned opening at the end of 2028. Lidl officials stated that the expansion aims to increase local competition and provide more affordable food options for residents, while also creating new local employment opportunities.
