Lidl workers seek unionization and 1,000 PLN wage increases

The trade union OPZZ Konfederacja Pracy has announced the establishment of organizational structures within Lidl Polska. This marks the first time a union has attempted to organize within the retail chain, which employs approximately 29,000 people across more than 1,000 stores in Poland.

The union has signaled potential collective disputes and intends to present official demands to management. Key demands include a 1,000 PLN monthly wage increase for every employee, an increase in overall staffing levels, and stricter adherence to labor and union rights.

Union representatives have accused the employer of failing to respond to requests for meetings and refusing to provide necessary documentation for union activities. While NSZZ Solidarność has also expressed openness to forming structures within the network, the current initiative is being led by Konfederacja Pracy, which is already active in other retail chains such as Biedronka and Kaufland.
