Lido expands ETH staking to Layer 2 networks and EEA treasury
Lido has announced the launch of one-transaction Ethereum (ETH) staking across four Layer 2 networks: Arbitrum, Base, Linea, and Optimism. Through its main interface, users on these chains can stake ETH and immediately receive wrapped staked ETH (wstETH) via local liquidity pools. The process utilizes Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to coordinate messaging between the Layer 2 networks and the Ethereum mainnet.
In a separate development, the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance (EEA) has begun deploying a portion of its treasury into Ethereum-native staking infrastructure, specifically utilizing Lido. The EEA stated that the decision to use Lido’s stETH was based on its liquidity, exit capabilities, and institutional vetting. This move marks a transition for the EEA from ecosystem advocacy to direct operational engagement with Ethereum infrastructure.
