Lido fixes stETH yield calculation glitch after oracle reporting error
Lido's decentralized autonomous organization identified an accounting discrepancy in its stETH staking protocol when its reporting oracle missed a 32 ETH validator deposit. The missed deposit caused the daily rebase APR to fall to 2.04 % instead of the expected 2.15 %, prompting concerns over yield reporting rather than asset security.
Lido confirmed that no user funds were affected and described the issue as an under‑reporting of balances. After an oracle upgrade, the protocol resolved the mis‑calculation, and future rebases are expected to capture the omitted balances and restore normal staking yields. Total value locked remains around $17.5 billion, and confidence in Lido's redemption mechanism stays high.
The incident highlights the importance of accurate on‑chain accounting for liquid staking services, but the swift fix and absence of lost assets have mitigated broader market impact.
