Lido launches 0x02 CSM to increase validator capacity to 2048 ETH

Lido has launched its new 0x02 Community Staking Module (CSM), which utilizes Ethereum's EIP-7251 to increase the maximum effective balance per validator from 32 ETH to 2048 ETH. This upgrade is designed to improve operational efficiency by allowing a single validator to manage a much larger amount of ETH, reducing the need to manage dozens of individual validator keys for the same total stake.

During the initial rollout, the module will assign 32 ETH to the first set of validator keys to begin the activation process. Subsequent stake increases will occur through a separate queue, which is currently limited to 32 slots. The initial allocation for the new module is capped at 0.01% of Lido's total value locked (TVL).

While the upgrade streamlines management, the scale of assets affected by a single validator failure could increase. Lido plans to propose limit expansions through its governance committee once the initial validators are activated and the system's performance is assessed.
