LIDOM preseason: Estrellas Orientales win and sign veteran Abad

The Dominican Winter League (LIDOM) preseason continues with notable performances and roster moves. In a matchup between Estrellas Orientales and Tigres del Licey, Estrellas secured a 7-2 victory at Estadio Tételo Vargas. The win was fueled by a six-run fifth inning featuring a grand slam by Miguel Bleis and home runs from Juan Santana and Yordalin Peña.

In another preseason contest, Tigres del Licey and Águilas Cibaeñas played to a 4-4 draw. Orelvis Martínez drove in four runs for Licey, including a two-run double in the seventh inning, but the Águilas managed to equalize in the ninth inning following a sacrifice fly and a throwing error.

Off the field, Estrellas Orientales announced the signing of 40-year-old left-handed reliever Fernando Abad for the 2026-27 season. Abad, a veteran with 17 seasons in the league, passed his medical evaluations to bolster the team's left-handed bullpen depth.
