Liebherr-Aerospace Opens Shanghai Plant to Boost COMAC C919 Landing‑Gear Production

Liebherr‑Aerospace Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new manufacturing facility in Shanghai’s Lingang New Area, within the Large Aircraft Industrial Park Phase III. The single‑story steel‑structured plant covers about 16,000 m², with a 30‑metre span and an 18.3‑metre height, providing space for precision machining and surface‑treatment of large aircraft components.

The factory will focus on producing high‑strength structural steel parts for aircraft landing‑gear systems, primarily to support COMAC’s domestically developed C919 passenger jet. Local production is expected to cut long‑distance logistics costs, improve service response, and strengthen Liebherr’s global production network while bolstering Shanghai’s high‑end equipment manufacturing sector.
