Liebherr battery storage replaces diesel for German film production

Liebherr’s mobile battery storage system, the Liduro Power Port (LPO 100), successfully provided power for a film set in the Ruhr region of Germany, offering a sustainable alternative to diesel generators.

During the 33-day production of a new ARD/WDR series, Sally Forth Cinema utilized the LPO 100 to power base camp facilities, including production offices, catering, and climate control, at a location in Hamm without grid access. The system operated for 657 hours, delivering 2,486.4 kWh of electrical energy.

Compared to a conventional 30 kVA diesel generator, the use of the battery storage saved approximately 1,314 liters of diesel and prevented roughly 3.5 tons of direct CO2 emissions. Additionally, the production reported energy cost savings of approximately 1,488 euros. The technology is noted for its low noise levels and lack of local emissions, making it suitable for residential areas and sensitive natural environments.
