Liebherr commits over €200 million to new facilities and test bench in Colmar, France

Liebherr France SAS has installed a €2.5 million crawler‑excavator test bench at its Colmar development site. The rig can accelerate ageing tests, simulating up to 17 hours of field work per hour, and is intended to speed the validation of autonomous machine designs.

In parallel, the group announced a larger investment programme exceeding €200 million for two projects in the Haut‑Rhin region. More than €100 million will fund a new green‑field production line for excavator control cabins in Nambsheim, with a capacity of up to 10 000 units per year. An additional €90 million will expand the company’s engine plant to serve the growing data‑center market. The combined programmes are expected to create over 400 jobs and become operational by 2028.

Both initiatives are part of Liebherr’s long‑term development strategy in the Colmar basin, where the company has been present for more than six decades.
