Liechtenstein exhibition opens in Opava

An interactive traveling exhibition titled ‘Liechtenstein and the Czech Republic’ is currently on display in Opava, located near the Hláska building. Running until August 31, the exhibition utilizes QR codes on individual panels to allow visitors to explore various locations digitally, such as Styria in Austria, Valtice, or the Malbun ski resort.

The exhibition details the history of the Liechtenstein family, their economic and cultural influence, and their lasting impact on the Czech landscape and historical monuments. It specifically highlights the relationship between Prince Johann II and the Silesian Museum in Opava; the Prince was a significant patron who donated land and over 30 paintings to the museum's collection in 1896.

Additional historical context provided includes the family's ownership of the Moravian Krumlov castle from 1625 to 1908 and the extinction of the Moravian-Krumlov branch of the family following the death of Rudolf.
