Liechtenstein School of Architecture announces research modules

The Liechtenstein School of Architecture is offering independent study modules focused on specialized architectural research and construction projects.

One module, within the Craft & Structure Unit, involves the construction of the ‘RED CUBE’. Following workshops with partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Norway, students will collaborate with local craftsmen to develop a tectonic system. The project covers all building elements, including foundations produced via tamping techniques, truss-based skeleton construction, and slate slab roof cladding.

A second module, under the Built Heritage & Upcycling Unit, focuses on the work of German architect Ernst Sommerlad. In preparation for a scientific symposium in fall 2025, students will study Sommerlad’s influence on modern architecture in the Alpine region. This research is conducted in cooperation with the state and the OST Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences.
