Lieder Society to host Czechoslovak musical concert in Prague

The Lieder Society is organizing a concert titled ‘Czechoslovak Salon’ at the New Town Hall in Prague on October 16. Held in observance of the Year of Slovak Music, the event explores over a century of mutual musical inspiration between Czech and Slovak composers.

The program highlights how Slovak folk melodies influenced Czech composers such as Antonín Dvořák, Vítězslav Novák, and Bohuslav Martinů. It also features works by Slovak composers including Ján Levoslav Beller, Eugen Suchoň, Tibor Andrašov, and contemporary composer Jana Kmiťová.

Performances will feature soprano Tamara Morozová accompanied by pianist Róbert Pechanc, and soprano Eliška Minářová accompanied by pianist Pavol Praženica.
