Lieferando rolls out AI voice ordering assistant in Germany

The food‑delivery platform Lieferando has added an artificial‑intelligence‑powered voice assistant to its mobile app for German users. Customers can now place orders by speaking to the app, with the system handling queries ranging from specific restaurant names to vague requests such as “something light but not a salad”. The assistant, accessible via a star icon next to the search bar, works in German and English and draws on the listings of more than 48,000 Lieferando partner restaurants.

The feature follows a trial in the United Kingdom and is part of Just Eat Takeaway’s broader AI strategy, which also includes text‑based chatbots and upcoming conversational commerce pilots. Lieferando says the voice assistant improves accessibility for people with mobility or visual impairments and is expected to boost order conversion by guiding users through the selection process. The company plans to introduce the technology to additional markets later in the year.
