Lieferando uses AI-generated food images that may not match actual dishes
Food delivery platform Lieferando is facing scrutiny for using AI-generated images that do not accurately represent the meals served by partner restaurants. These artificial images often provide only a generic depiction of a dish rather than showing the specific version prepared by a vendor.
Reports indicate that some of these images are generated automatically by the service without the initiative or consent of the restaurant owners. One snack bar owner noted on Reddit that the platform generated these images automatically, and replacing them requires uploading original photos, a task for which he lacks sufficient time.
Similar issues have occurred at Just Eat, a British sister company under the same parent corporation. In one instance, AI errors resulted in a 'Soda-Bread-Breakfast' being visually depicted as lemonade with bacon and eggs. While Just Eat apologized and removed the incorrect images, the company stated it intends to continue using and developing its AI tools.
