Liezen police seize vehicle after social media burnout videos

Police in Liezen, Austria, have seized a vehicle and initiated legal proceedings against a 20-year-old driver following social media footage of illegal driving maneuvers. The videos, which circulated online after a vehicle gathering at a supermarket parking lot on August 22, showed a black car performing burnouts and other maneuvers typical of the ‘Roadrunner’ scene.

During targeted traffic controls on August 26, officers identified and stopped the vehicle in question. A technical inspection by an expert revealed several serious defects, including a manipulated exhaust system where the mandatory catalytic converter had been replaced by an empty pipe. This modification caused significant noise and engine misfires.

Authorities confiscated the vehicle's license plates and registration on-site. The driver faces multiple charges under the Motor Vehicle Act, and investigations are ongoing regarding potential property damage and the validity of previous vehicle inspections.
