LIFE Bear-Smart Corridors project concludes in Pescasseroli

The LIFE Bear-Smart Corridors project is concluding with a final conference in Pescasseroli on September 20. The event coincides with the opening of the International Association for Bear Research and Management (IBA) international conference.

For the first time in Italy, the project has implemented a large-scale model of bear-friendly communities. This approach focuses on conservation through collaboration with local administrations, citizens, and protected area operators rather than imposing measures on them. The initiative has developed and codified replicable methods and tools to facilitate coexistence between humans and bears.

While the formal project is ending, organizers intend to launch a long-term program to consolidate the progress made, strengthen local governance, and ensure continuity for the established local committees and communities.
