Life insurance tax rules and benefits in France
Life insurance remains a versatile savings tool in France, offering capital accumulation, liquidity, and diverse investment options including stocks, bonds, and real estate. A key advantage is the ability to defer taxes until withdrawals are made and the option to invest in capital-guaranteed euro funds.
However, tax implications for inheritance depend heavily on the age at which premiums are paid. For contributions made before the age of 70, beneficiaries can benefit from a significant tax allowance of up to €152,500 per person. Contributions made after age 70 do not lose their ability to be transmitted, but they do not benefit from the same favorable tax framework as earlier payments.
