Lifeguard and Carabiniere save father and child from sea in Italy

On 5 July, a lifeguard from the "Angeli del mare" cooperative, Mauro Sarri, rescued a man who was drowning near his toddler on the crowded beach of Trani, Puglia, after the sea turned rough. The father was pulled ashore, treated by ambulance personnel and taken to Bisceglie hospital, while his daughter was safely escorted back to the shore by other beachgoers.

Around the same period at Paloma Beach in Silvi, Abruzzo, a Carabiniere sergeant on a lunch break dove into the water, still in his uniform, to assist lifeguards in rescuing a father and his ten‑year‑old son who were struggling against the waves. Both were brought safely to shore; the child was unharmed and the father, after receiving on‑site medical attention, chose to go to a hospital for further checks. The Carabiniere suffered only a minor foot injury.
