A 16‑year‑old girl was swept by powerful waves off the coast of Mauritius as her father tried to reach her. Lifeguard Giuseppe Filippazzo, a member of the Ulisse cooperative, jumped into the hazardous sea, halted the father on the shore, and retrieved the teenager before the situation turned fatal. After the rescue, both the girl and her father, who suffered a sudden fainting episode from the shock, were taken to the emergency department for observation.
