Lifeguards perform rescues in Italy after currents pull swimmers out to sea

Two separate maritime rescue operations were carried out in Italy involving individuals caught in strong sea currents.

In Ortona, at the Ripari di Giobbe bay, a lifeguard from Angeli del Mare Rescue Italy, Cristian Vitullo, rescued two young people on a Thursday afternoon. The individuals were on inflatables when a current pulled them out to sea. During the rescue, the lifeguard had to use a specific release technique to manage a panicked young woman before successfully bringing both individuals back to shore without medical complications.

In Gabicce Mare, a couple in their 70s from the Trentino region was rescued on a Saturday after being pushed into deep water near the Mississippi pilings. The situation was exacerbated by strong sirocco winds. Rescue operators brought the pair to shore, where the Nemo team monitored their vital signs until medical services arrived.
