Lifestyle habits and eye changes can indicate health risks
Daily lifestyle habits and physical changes in the eyes can serve as indicators of underlying health issues. Chronic sleep deprivation, constant stress, and poor nutrition—specifically diets high in processed foods and sugars—are linked to weakened brain health and increased risks of cognitive decline. Regular physical activity and a Mediterranean-style diet are noted as beneficial for brain function.
Physical changes in the eyes can also signal systemic problems. For instance, white-yellow rings around the eyes may indicate high blood fat levels, which increase heart attack risks, while yellowing of the eyes can suggest liver or gallbladder issues. Other symptoms, such as eye twitching, may relate to magnesium deficiency, and blurred vision can be a sign of diabetes. Additionally, restricted eye movement may be associated with Graves' disease.
