LIG Nex1 building fire in Gumi contained within 35 minutes

A fire broke out on the rooftop of an abandoned building owned by LIG Nex1 in Gongdan-dong, Gumi, on the morning of the 17th. The blaze occurred at approximately 9:47 AM during the demolition of a cooling tower.

Emergency responders, including 54 personnel and 23 pieces of equipment, managed to control the fire within approximately 30 to 35 minutes. There were no reported casualties. The rapid containment is being attributed to effective adherence to safety manuals by both LIG Nex1 and the contractor, GS Engineering & Construction. Workers immediately halted operations and evacuated according to established procedures, while the companies provided critical information regarding the building structure and the ignition point to the Gumi fire department, facilitating a swift response.
