Liga de Mossoró receives R$ 4.5 million cancer treatment equipment
The Liga de Mossoró de Estudos e Combate ao Câncer has received significant new medical equipment to expand oncology services in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. A new linear accelerator, valued at R$ 4.57 million, was acquired through the National Program for Support of Oncology Care (Pronon). This technology is intended to increase radiotherapy capacity and improve treatment precision for patients within the Unified Health System (SUS).
In addition to the accelerator, the institution introduced a prone biopsy table following a R$ 2.55 million investment. The facility has also secured new healthcare habilitations, including a seven-bed pediatric ICU and specialized services for rare diseases. These developments, presented during a visit by Governor Fátima Bezerra and Health Minister Alexandre Padilha, aim to reduce patient waiting times and modernize the regional healthcare infrastructure.
