Liga Endesa sets historic scoring records in 2026-27 season opener

The opening round of the 2026-2027 Liga Endesa (ACB) season has set historic scoring records, with teams averaging 94.8 points per game—the highest mark since 1987. Seven teams surpassed the 100-point threshold during the inaugural matches.

Notable individual performances included Balcerowski with 36 points, McGhee with 33.6 points, and Batemon with 36 points for iLERNA Lleida. Other standout players included Jassel Pérez with 34.8 points for FIATC Girona and Brankovic with 34.8 points for Río Breogán.

Team milestones included Barça scoring 119 points against Leyma Coruña, the highest opening day total since 1990, and Surne Bilbao recording 107 points. Coach Jota Cuspinera attributed the rising offensive trends to an increase in the number of possessions per game, or 'pace', noting that 'it is not that there is less defense, it is just that it is harder to defend' now.
