Liga F faces talent exodus amid major new investment

Spain's women's football league, Liga F, is facing a period of transformation and stagnation characterized by an exodus of star players to the English league. A significant development in this transition is a record private investment from Gasol16 Ventures, owned by Pau Gasol. The firm will invest 55 million euros over four seasons to improve the league's commercial and operational structures, aiming for a sustainable long-term model.

The departure of key figures, most notably Alexia Putellas to London in 2026, highlights the growing competitiveness of the English league in terms of salaries and product appeal. Other players, such as Mariona Caldentey who joined Arsenal in 2024, have also contributed to this trend of talent moving abroad.
