Liga Meridana de Invierno 2026-2027 season officially begins
The 2026-2027 season of the Liga Meridana de Invierno has officially commenced, marking a significant expansion for the regional baseball circuit. A key highlight of this season is the inclusion of the Capitalinos de Kanasín, representing the first time a team from a municipality outside of Mérida has joined the league.
The inaugural ceremonies included participation from the Leones de Yucatán, led by Executive President Erick Arellano Hernández, alongside Mérida Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada. The league features six competing teams: Capitalinos de Kanasín, Diablos de La Bojórquez, Zorros de Pacabtún, Senadores de la Morelos, Venados Marista, and Azulejos de la Dolores Otero.
Kanasín Mayor Edwin Bojórquez Ramírez noted that the team's integration aims to motivate local youth baseball players. The Capitalinos are scheduled to play their first away game this Saturday, followed by a home debut against the Zorros de Pacabtún on Sunday at the Víctor Cervera Pacheco park, which will be free for the public.
