Mexico defeats Australia 7-1 in Little League World Series debut

The Liga Municipal de Tijuana, representing Mexico, secured a 7-1 victory against Australia in its debut at the 2026 Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The match, originally delayed by adverse weather, saw the Mexican team take an early lead in the first inning following defensive errors and walks by the Australian side.

Pitcher Jorge Fonseca led the performance, pitching three scoreless innings with six strikeouts and contributing an RBI single in the third inning. Following Fonseca, Esteban Bautista provided relief, allowing only one run despite a bases-loaded situation in the fifth. The Mexican offense was bolstered by hits from Gareth García and Iker González, who drove in runs to seal the win.
