Liga MX to establish Technical Refereeing Committee
Mikel Arriola, the commissioner of Mexican football, has ordered four strategic actions to improve referee performance in Liga MX. A central component of this initiative is the creation of a Technical Refereeing Committee. This new body will include representatives from clubs, the Referee Commission, and independent advisors to strengthen institutional communication and improve officiating standards.
The four pillars of the plan include:
1. Strengthening incentives for international certification and league performance to improve the referee designation process. 2. Refining refereeing criteria to ensure greater predictability for clubs and players, with continuous communication during training. 3. Standardizing the reporting of incidents and indiscipline during matches. 4. Establishing the aforementioned Technical Refereeing Committee.
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) and the Referee Commission are required to report regularly to the Commissioner regarding the progress of these tasks. These measures follow recent controversies surrounding officiating in the league.
