Liga Nacional Femenina announces 2026/27 season format

The Liga Nacional Femenina has established its competition format for the 2026/27 season. The tournament will feature 20 clubs divided into three distinct zones following the late withdrawal of the team Gorriones.

Zone A will consist of six teams: Instituto, Rocamora, Española, San José, Hindú, and Chañares. Zone B will include seven teams: Obras, Unión Florida, Berazategui, El Talar, Náutico, Ferro, and Regatas San Nicolás. Zone C will feature seven teams: Quilmes, Peñarol, 9 de Julio, Independiente de Neuquén, 2 del Sur, Boca, and Vélez.

The season is structured into two main stages: the Torneo Apertura and the Liga Nacional Femenina. During the Torneo Apertura, teams will play a regular season within their zones in a home-and-away format. The top four teams from each zone will advance to semifinal quadrangulars. The winners of each zone will earn the right to host the three semifinal venues. The season will conclude with playoffs to determine the national title.
