Liga Portugal president outlines TV rights and security goals

At the Portugal Football Summit, Reinaldo Teixeira, president of Liga Portugal, provided an update on the league's strategic goals and operational status. A primary focus is the centralization and sale of television rights. The process is expected to begin with a production auction, followed by the sale of domestic rights between January and March next year, with the goal of finalizing the entire process by the end of 2027.

Teixeira also addressed refereeing, expressing confidence in officials despite recent controversies. He called for sports agents to avoid creating “unjust noise” and suggested that those who cause unnecessary disruption should be penalized.

Regarding stadium safety, Teixeira highlighted rising attendance figures, noting that the I Liga has averaged over 12,200 spectators per game. In collaboration with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office and local police forces, the league is prioritizing security as a strategic necessity. The summit also featured insights from FIFA and UEFA representatives regarding security operations and the upcoming Euro 2030 tournament.
