LigaPro clubs begin hexagonal battle to avoid relegation

Several Ecuadorian football clubs are entering the relegation hexagonal phase of LigaPro to determine which teams will remain in Serie A for the 2027 season. The competition consists of 10 matches, with a total of 30 points at stake. The bottom two teams in the final standings will be relegated to Serie B.

Ambato-based clubs Técnico Universitario and Mushuc Runa SC are both fighting for permanence. Mushuc Runa enters the phase as the leader with 38 points, while Técnico Universitario holds 32 points.

Deportivo Cuenca also faces a critical battle to avoid relegation. Currently in second place within this group with 36 points, the club is scheduled to face Mushuc Runa in its opening match. The team's path includes matches against Orense, Técnico Universitario, Manta FC, and Delfín SC. Analysts suggest that securing 9 or 10 points in the first five matches would provide a safer margin for the second half of the hexagonal.
