Light aircraft crashes result in serious pilot injuries

Two separate light aircraft accidents involving serious pilot injuries have been reported in different regions.

In Hampshire, a 62-year-old pilot sustained potentially life-threatening and life-changing injuries after his microlight overturned at Popham Airfield. Emergency services, including firefighters and an air ambulance, responded to the scene on a Sunday evening. The pilot was extracted from the wreckage and transported to Southampton Hospital.

In a separate incident at Talgarth airfield in Powys, an investigation by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch detailed a crash involving an 81-year-old pilot. The report concluded that turbulence, crosswinds, and unstable air likely caused the Aeropro Eurofox 2K to crash seconds after takeoff while attempting to launch a glider. The experienced pilot, who had over 2,000 flying hours, was seriously injured in the accident.
