Light aircraft makes vertical landing in San Jose

A small propeller-driven aircraft, identified as a 1960 Cessna 177A Cardinal, performed an emergency landing on a roadway in San Jose, California. Video footage shows the plane flying low before its left wing struck a lamp post, causing the aircraft to flip 180 degrees in mid-air. The plane landed nose-first and subsequently spun before coming to a stop in a vertical position.

Two adults and one child on board survived the incident and were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The San Jose Fire Department confirmed that no other vehicles were struck despite heavy traffic at the time. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) noted that the pilot had reported engine issues prior to the crash. The aircraft is registered to Flying Twenty Inc, a non-profit flying club associated with San Jose State University.
