Light art installations featured in Unna and Amsterdam
The Zentrum für Internationale Lichtkunst, located in a former brewery in Unna, Germany, serves as a unique global hub for light installation art. Spanning 2,600 square meters deep underground, the museum features works by over 20 internationally renowned artists, including James Turrell, Olafur Eliasson, and Mario Merz. Many installations are specifically designed to interact with the site's historical architecture.
In Amsterdam, the Buurt Kunst Licht project is launching a new edition featuring monumental light projections on the Watertoren in Amsterdam-West. Approximately twenty artists will participate, creating works that utilize the water tower's shape as a medium. The project aims to bring art into public spaces, removing the barriers of traditional museums by presenting moving visual art to residents and passersby in their daily environment.
