Germany hosts various light and music festivals in autumn
Several cultural festivals featuring light art and music are scheduled across Germany this autumn. In Berlin, the Festival of Lights will take place from October 9 to 18, 2026, under the theme ‘Colours of Love’. The event will feature light art, projections, and video mappings at approximately 40 locations, including the UNESCO World Heritage Museum Island, the Berlin Cathedral, and the Brandenburg Gate.
In Erfurt, the Kaufmannskirche will host ‘Genesis’ from October 9 to November 29. This mapping installation by the Zurich-based artist collective Projektil uses high-resolution projections and original music to tell the story of the earth's creation across the church's historical architecture. Special concert evenings featuring regional musicians will be held on Thursday nights.
Other notable events include the Essen Light Festival, running from October 2 to 11, which features neon installations and video mappings in the city center. Additionally, the ‘Rheinleuchten’ event will occur in Oberwesel from October 8 to 11, transforming churches and city walls in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley into stages for immersive multimedia installations.
