Cultural and historical heritage highlights in Italian villages

Various Italian towns are showcasing their unique historical and cultural identities through seasonal events and exhibitions. In Mondolfo, a recognized “Borghi più belli d’Italia,” the Camillo Paciero exhibition is currently on display. Promoted by the Archeoclub d’Italia and supported by the Pontifical Council for Culture, the exhibition features works by the 17th-century master and includes a scholarly volume with a presentation by Vatican Museums Director Barbara Jatta.

In the province of Matera, the village of Colobraro is highlighting its folklore and local legends. The town has embraced its historical reputation as a “cursed” village to promote a cultural project centered on popular magic, peasant civilization, and Lucanian memory.

In the Alta Irpinia region, the town of Calitri continues its tradition of hosting the Sponz Fest. Now in its fourteenth edition, the festival is directed by Vinicio Capossela. This year’s theme, “Sponz Im-Bosck,” focuses on the forest as a central narrative element, reflecting the town’s historical and natural landscape.
