Lightning strike disrupts Genova-La Spezia railway line

A lightning strike near a train in the Tigullio region has caused significant disruptions on the Genova-La Spezia railway line. The strike occurred near the Freccia Bianca 8601 service, which was traveling from Genova to Rome. The train was forced to stop at the Riva Trigoso station due to technical faults resulting from the weather event.

Passengers experienced delays of up to 80 minutes, though many were transferred to alternative trains to continue their journeys. RFI reports that rail circulation remains slowed following earlier technical issues near Genova Brignole. Several high-speed and Intercity services, including routes between Rome, Milan, and La Spezia, have been affected by cancellations and delays.
