Lightwave Yachts marks 30 years with robotics investment

Australian catamaran manufacturer Lightwave Yachts is celebrating its 30th anniversary by investing in new robotic and automated manufacturing technology. The company, founded in 1996 by shipwright Roger Overell on the Gold Coast, has delivered more than 100 custom-built cruising catamarans over the past three decades.

To mark the milestone, the company has installed advanced equipment at its Yatala facility to streamline production processes and improve productivity. This investment aims to combine traditional boatbuilding craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques to support future production. Lightwave has previously operated out of Coomera and maintains a long-standing relationship with The Boat Works marine precinct for servicing and maintenance.
