LIGUA football league launches 2026-2027 season in Guinea

The Ligue Guinéenne des Académies (LIGUA) has officially launched its 2026-2027 season, with the opening matches scheduled for Sunday, October 25. The season will feature a significant increase in competition, with the total number of matches rising from 182 to 240.

While there are conflicting reports regarding the exact number of participating academies—with one source citing six and another citing 16—organizers emphasize that the new format aims to provide more playing time for young talents to accelerate their development. The competition will also include academies from various regions within the country to expand geographic representation.

The season kicks off with a match between defending champion Koléa United and Académie Guibes Fort at the Koléa stadium, while other proceedings are set to take place at the Petit Sory stadium in Nongo.
