Ligue 1: Five teams tied for first place after seven rounds

The French Ligue 1 has reached an unprecedented level of parity after seven rounds of play. Five clubs—Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Lille, Monaco, and Paris FC—are currently tied at the top of the table with 14 points each.

Lyon currently holds the first position due to a superior goal difference following a 2-1 victory over Nice. This marks the first time the club has led the championship since the 2020/21 season. PSG remains in the hunt after a 3-1 away win against Strasbourg, while Lille secured a 1-1 draw against Brest. Monaco fell behind after a 1-0 loss to Lorient.

Paris FC joined the leaders following a dramatic 4-3 victory against Rennes. The match was notable for featuring four penalties, a feat not seen in the French league since January 1992. Lassine Sinayoko scored twice for Paris FC, including the winning penalty in the 97th minute, while Rennes' Esteban Lepaul scored a hat-trick, all from penalty kicks.

An upcoming match between Lyon and PSG is expected to be a decisive factor in determining the early leader of the season.
