Ligue 1 match featuring Ayase Ueda sets viewership record in China
A match between Lille OSC and Troyes in France's Ligue 1 has set a record for the highest viewership of a Ligue 1 game in China. According to data from research firm CSM reported by RMC Sport, the match averaged 2.15 million viewers in China.
In total, approximately 13 million people in China watched at least one minute of the game. The surge in interest is attributed to the presence of Japanese forward Ayase Ueda, who joined Lille this summer, as well as the match being broadcast on the major Chinese sports channel CCTV-5 during a favorable viewing time in the region.
Ligue 1 has been actively expanding its presence in Asian markets. Last season, total viewership in China reached a record 93 million, representing a 12% increase from the previous year. The league continues to view China as a vital market for growth.
