Liguria announces coastal defense project and taxi service funding

In Imperia, a €7 million coastal defense project for the Spianta di Borgo Peri has entered a decisive phase. The Municipality of Imperia has submitted required integrations to the Liguria Region to replace two existing offshore breakwaters with three semi-submerged reefs made of natural boulders. Work is scheduled to begin in October, focusing on track creation, followed by the dismantling of old structures and construction of the new reefs through mid-February. The project also includes beach nourishment using 30,000 cubic meters of river quarry material between mid-November and late March.

In Liguria, the regional government has announced €130,000 in funding for the 2026 requalification of taxi public transport services. This amount represents a €50,000 increase compared to 2024. The funds, proposed by Transport Councilor Marco Scajola, aim to modernize the vehicle fleet with a focus on low-environmental impact vehicles and accessibility for people with disabilities. Individual applicants can receive up to €5,000, or €8,000 for modifications related to disability transport.
