Liguria develops pilot project for condominium-based nursing

The Liguria Region is developing a pilot project to introduce ‘condominium nurses’ to support its aging population. Health Councilor Massimo Nicolò announced the initiative, which aims to establish small clinics within large residential buildings, potentially utilizing disused concierge stations.

The project targets large apartment complexes that house many elderly residents with limited self-sufficiency. By stationing regional health service nurses directly within these buildings, the initiative seeks to improve quality of life for seniors, following models already implemented in Northern European countries.

The plan is currently in the development phase and has not yet reached the regional council for formal approval. A pilot maxi-condominium has been identified, with inspections scheduled for next week to assess feasibility.
