Liguria Region announces drug emergency task force for Genoa
The Liguria Region has announced the creation of a health task force to address the drug emergency in Genoa. The initiative will be led by the socio-sanitary directorate of the Azienda tutela della salute Liguria and will focus on the medical and healthcare aspects of addiction, as defined by national legislation.
The announcement has sparked political tension between regional and municipal authorities. Regional Councilor for Health Massimo Nicolò stated that the initiative should have originated from the Municipality of Genoa, citing the city's responsibility for citizen security. In response, Cristina Lodi emphasized the distinction between the Region's healthcare competencies and the Municipality's socio-assistance roles, according to the national consolidated text on narcotics.
