Liguria Region Boosts Funding for Historic and Cultural Events in 2026

The Liguria regional government confirmed official patronage for the 2026 edition of the Palio Storico di Albenga, providing an economic contribution to support the medieval reenactment, markets, workshops and performances that attract tens of thousands of visitors. The support also recognises the event’s cultural, historic and tourism value and continues a three‑year funding agreement with the Ministry of Culture (2026‑2028).

In a related measure, Liguria issued a decree allocating €250,000 to Pro Loco societies for 102 authentic Ligurian events listed in the 2026 regional calendar. All 73 applications were approved, representing a more than 20 % increase over the previous year. The funded events span the provinces of Savona, Genoa, Imperia and La Spezia and aim to preserve local traditions, promote regional cuisine and boost year‑round tourism.
