Liguria Regional Assessor Giampedrone Criticised Over Road Landslide and Waste Incinerator Plans

In the municipality of Ne, a landslide on the SP26 road in the Val Graveglia has left the provincial route split for years. Regional assessor Giacomo Raul Giampedrone was questioned by the council and responded with vague statements, prompting accusations that he ignored public interest, shifted responsibility, and failed to honour earlier commitments made to a councilor.

At the same time, Giampedrone defended the regional waste‑to‑energy (termovalorizzatore) project, stating that the current public notice is only an exploratory phase and that no final site has been chosen. He rejected claims that the region removed municipal participation from the procedure, emphasizing that local consent will remain necessary. Giampedrone warned that without a regional incinerator, Liguria would have to ship its waste elsewhere, increasing costs for citizens. Both episodes underscore political tension in Liguria over infrastructure safety and environmental waste management.
