Liguria Regional Council to Hold Extraordinary Session on New Genoa Dam

Regional councilors from the Democratic Party, Greens and Left Alliance, and the Five Star Movement urged the Liguria regional council to convene an extraordinary session on the new Genoa dam. They praised the regional government's commitment, led by the Bucci administration, to call the meeting after detailed work in the relevant committees.

The councilors emphasized that the dam is “one of the most important interventions financed by the PNRR,” stressing the need for full transparency on cost overruns, technical verifications, environmental issues and labour‑rights investigations stemming from a probe into illegal labour practices at the Vado Ligure construction site. They called for a comprehensive review of Phase A before Phase B proceeds, to address budget increases, safety checks and the protection of workers and the local environment.
