Lil Durk acquitted in Los Angeles murder-for-hire trial
A federal jury in Los Angeles has acquitted Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, of all charges in a high-profile murder-for-hire case. The charges stemmed from a 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center that targeted rapper Quando Rondo but instead killed his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Prosecutors alleged that Banks orchestrated and financed the ambush as retaliation for the 2020 killing of his associate, King Von. The defense argued that the government's case relied on unreliable witnesses and coded language rather than direct proof of Banks' involvement. While Banks was cleared of all five counts, including conspiracy and stalking resulting in death, his co-defendants, Deandre Wilson and David Lindsey, were convicted of stalking and conspiracy to commit stalking, though they were also acquitted of the murder-for-hire charges.
Despite the acquittal, Banks remains in federal custody. He is scheduled to face a separate federal trial beginning October 5, where he will face racketeering, murder, and firearms charges.
